Let’s face it: we all collect something, even unintentionally.
Pretty pottery, small glass ornaments, books, model trains…most people have a soft spot or passion for something.
Now let us just take you back to the early 90s for a second and our obsession with trolls.
Yep, you remember those little nudie creatures with the whacky hair?
Well, way back when, we just couldn’t get enough of them, and there were just SO MANY to collect!
We’ve moved on a bit since then, turning our attention to a slightly cuddlier obsession, and it got us thinking about why people collect Teddy Bears, and we think it boils down to:
Teddy Bears are SO cute!
Have you ever seen a Teddy Bear that isn’t cute?
Granted, some are cuter than others, but most Bears just scream cuteness to us.
They appeal to young and old people of any gender, and we believe the cute factor leads many people to fill their lives with these loveable friends.
Teddy Bears make you happy
Bears have a cheery disposition; we genuinely believe they were put on this earth to make people happy, and we get so much feedback from our customers that they do just that.
If you decide to collect something, you really want that collection to fill you with joy, and in that respect, Teddy Bears tick all the boxes.
Teddy Bears are easy to store
You don’t need some sort of special display unit, boxes, or room to store Teddies.
They are happiest on the end of your bed or smiling down at you from a shelf.
They are also easy to squash in a box together if you need to redecorate or move house.
Teddy Bears are inexpensive (mostly)
Okay, so we did a blog not so long ago that mentioned the most expensive Teddy Bear in the world, but these cuddly soft toys aren’t going to break the bank, so it’s pretty inexpensive to create a vast collection quite quickly.
Teddy Bears can be Valuable
Of course, there are always the special Limited Edition bears that some people like to collect.
They may cost a penny or two more, but due to their limited number, they are more likely to gain value than your average Winnie the Pooh teddy.
Steiff, Charlie Bears, Silver Tag and Teddy Hermann are some manufacturers making Limited Edition collectable bears.
Teddy Bears remind us of special people
Once family and friends get wind of your love of collecting, then there is no doubt they will think of a teddy when it comes to a special gift for you.
What makes this even more wonderful is that you will then be reminded of it when you see your bear smiling at you.
We think everyone should have some sort of Teddy Bear collection, even if it’s a small one.
Teddy bears bring us comfort and security, even as adults, and why wouldn’t everyone want a little of that in their lives?
