We don’t know about you, but it feels like the summer of christenings! With so much time in lockdown all the lockdown babies are finally able to be presented to the world and we are loving it. Meeting new babies may just be our favourite thing…after Teddy Bears!
Recently, we were asked about gifts for babies and we couldn’t help but talk about comfort blankets. They are a very popular product on the Bears4U website, especially the personalised comforters with a baby’s name embroidered on it. When you look at these adorable little blankets is quite easy to see why babies love them.
Soft, cuddly and warm
A comfort blanket offers the tactile softness that a baby needs, a recognisable toy that can be squeezed and cuddled whenever they feel the need for some comfort. Being cuddled and made to feel safe and secure is a basic human need, and during times when baby is away from Mum or Dad a warm comfort blanket is most definitely the next best thing.
A recognisable toy from the start
Because comforters can be introduced (safely) at a very young age they become a recognisable toy from the very start. Comforters can be placed in the cot to aid in sleep cues, the familiar sight and smell helping baby to nod off to sleep. Young babies shouldn’t be left for long periods of time with comfort blankets but as they get older comforters can be cuddled all night long.
A transitional object
Waking to sleeping, being away from Mum and Dad, these are transitional times where a comfort can be a great help. A comfort blanket is often known as a transitional object; an item that is used to offer security during a transitional moment, which is why babies get so attached to them. A comforter is there for them when parents aren’t able to be.
A comfort for night
A comforter can aid in good sleep associations and help with an effective bedtime routine. They let a baby know it’s time to relax and unwind and get ready for a good night’s sleep ahead. This type of comforter can be built into a bedtime routine from a very young age, and makes nights away from home with Grandparents a much easier time for all.
A little friend to treasure forever
Giving the gift of a comfort blanket really means you are giving the gift of a little friend that the child can treasure forever. Even when they have far outgrown the need for the comfort that the blanket brings, they will look upon the toy with childhood nostalgia.
We love seeing your photos of your babies cuddling up with their favourite comforter.
