How Soon is Too Soon to Start your Christmas Shopping?
As the days start to get shorter and the nights close in, there is a sense that Summer is almost over. With most of this year being spent in Lockdown we have barely had time to enjoy Spring and Summer so the last thing we want to think about is Christmas! But with just four months to go until the big day, many of us may have already started to make plans.
Last Minute Gift Grabbers
As always there are two sides to the Christmas Shopping debate. There are those that leave it all until the last minute in an effort to get the best bargains. They love the hustle and bustle of the crowds and enjoy chatting in the queues whilst the Christmas Carols play in the background. The nearer it gets to the date retailers have some great offers with lovely gift sets for every relative you can think of. Perfect to just grab and go!
Shopping in Advance
On the other side of the fence there are those that dread the rushing around and have everything planned and organised well in advance. Whilst this may mean missing out on the Christmas sales , being organised does have plenty of benefits. The whole experience Is far less stressful, no crowds, no queueing and no disappointment at not being able to find the right gift.
Starting shopping early allows you to budget for a couple of gifts a month rather than one bulk buy in December. There is less chance that the gift that you really want is sold out. If you want to order something online there is plenty of time for it to arrive. If you are wanting a unique gift, such as something that is personalised, then there is plenty of time to get it right.
Plan Ahead Now
OK, so August might be just too soon for many to comtemplate buying presents, but there is no harm in giving the ‘C’ word some thought. Perhaps make time to discuss what you are going to be doing. Who’s turn it is to cook and where you will be going. Highly likely the children will be more than happy to contribute with a list of things they might like, such as lego, a computer game or a special cuddly soft toy. Have you ever noticed how the nearer it gets to the 25th December the more elusive that giant teddy becomes? Plus this way, you can make sure no one else gets the same thing for them!
With the gifts all bought and wrapped, you can spend the last few weeks prior to Christmas just enjoying the festivities. Visit a Christmas Market, have a glass (or two) of mulled wine and relax as you enjoy the Christmas carols whilst everyone else is rushing around frantically.
