Here at Bears4u we have been very privileged to have been able to help people feel connected with each other during Lockdown.
We have been touched by the messages we have received telling us how the arrival of a teddy bear has made them cry tears of both happiness and sadness at the same time. We have shed many tears ourselves at some of the stories we have been told, and have felt humbled to have been able to help provide comfort for people at such difficult times.
Teddy Bear Deliveries
We have never doubted the fact that the arrival of a little cuddly friend has many benefits, but the last few months have endorsed this wholeheartedly. Our teddies have connected Grandparents with their Grandchildren. They have sent Get Well Hugs, Anniversary Wishes and told many people how much they are missed. With the help of Zoom, they have allowed children to have virtual birthday parties with each child making their very own teddy bear.
Our Graduation Teddy Bear has been a very popular chap, sent to recognise the acheivements of some very clever people.
Our Birthday Teddies have helped celebrate milestone birthdays – 1st Birthday , 18th Birthday, 21st Birthday and all the way to a 100th Birthday! Can you imagine celebrating your 100th birthday during Lockdown? Those Centarians have certainly witnessed some incredible times in their lives but never an occasion when the whole world came to a stand still.
Many little cuddly friends have been sent to let someone know how much they are missed – boyfriends, girlfriends, family members and of course, good friends.
What have we Learned from Lockdown?
The last few months have been a strange and unique experience for everyone. All of our lives have been affected, some more than others. It would be hard to leave this experience behind without having learned something from it.
Of course there are the practical things we have learned – how to shop on line, how to work from home, how to use Zoom. Some have learned new skills – cooking, sewing, painting, a new language and others have just learned how to survive. But what about Life Lessons? We have learned that life is fragile and we cannot control it. We have learned that we can manage with far less than we thought we needed. We have learned that the earth can thrive without human intervention. But above all of this we have realised that we need our family and friends. Being with each other is the key to our happiness.
Facebook and Zoom have allowed us to stay in touch with each other but it is the lack of physical contact that has been so hard. Being able to pick your Grandchild up and cuddle them, hugging eldery parents, having a coffee and chat with a friend face to face – all of the things we took for granted! These are the things that really matter in life.
As things change and our lives return to ‘normal’ , whatever that may be, we hope that the values we have learned will remain with us. You don’t need a lot of money to lead a rich life. Good friends and family are worth their weight in gold.
Our bears are always here when you feel you want to remind someone that they are special.
