With Father’s Day rapidly approaching we thought we would take a look at whether or not a cuddly toy is a suitable gift for a grown man.
We all know that little boys love their teddies and frequently have a bedroom full of stuffed animals of various kinds. But would you be surprised to hear that around half of these little boys keep one or more of their cuddly friends through in to adulthood?
An even more suprising finding, in a survey conducted by Build a Bear, was that one in four male adults actually sleep with a stuffed animal of some sort. 10% of men in their twenties admitted to be being part of this teddy bear fan group, showing that younger men are in touch with their softer side!
Teddy Go’s Too!
Around 20% of adult men said that they take their favourite soft toy with them on business trips to provide comfort and remind them of home. Some of these toys were gifts from wives, girlfriends or children and the story is that cuddling them helps them feel closer to their loved ones.
To back this statistic up, Travel Lodge claim to have recently reunited over 75,000 cuddly toys with their owners and 25% of these were to business men.
A whopping 35% of male students admitted to taking a teddy or other soft toy to university for the same reasons.
A Nation of Softies
So it looks like the men of our nation are really quite softies at heart and a gift of a cuddly teddy or stuffed animal would win their hearts!
So what to buy?
Some great ideas for Daddy’s , husbands or boyfriends are a cuddly Orangutan or a Cheeky Monkey. Both are cute and cuddly but with a bit of a rough and tough feel to them. These can be personalised with your own message embroidered on a jumper.
If you want something really represents a masculine looking image, then how about a Roaring Lion? Sir Roaralot allows you to record your own voice message to go inside the tummy. What a lovely personalised gift this would be for Father’s Day from the children.
If your man is more of a Grizzly Bear type then ‘Philbin’ from Gund is a great hit with the guys. Quirky and fun whilst still being very cuddly. Sherwood, a lovely teddy from Keel Toys, is a very manly looking traditional style teddy who loves to go on the odd business trip!
So we hope this helps you to choose a Father’s Day Gift in place of the standard socks or shirt, but more importantly we hope you all enjoy family time together and celebrate Dad’s everywhere.

Absolutely. My daughter gave my dad a Teddy. It never left his bed. Including the day he passed away. The bear was placed in his coffin, but the family decided that it should be returned to his granddaughter. So, this bear was his comfort, his memory and the only bear he ever received in his life. He cried his heart out to my mother in pure joy.
Nothing harmful at all….
