Kids and teddy bears’ usually form a near-unbreakable bond at an early age and remain close right through almost until teenage years – and sometimes in sneaky ways beyond this! At Bears4U we know and love teddy bears (and all kinds of stuffed characters) and want to share our passion with you.
As a parent, you love that you kid has such a passion for their teddy bear but there comes a time when teddy bear picnics or talking to teddy just gets a little old! Instead, here are some amazing new ways to show your kids how to play with their teddy bear and mix things up for that old bear.
Practical Teddy Bear Games
Teddy bears are great helpers when it comes to teaching kids something practical. They never complain, they never ask too many questions and they always smile, no matter what you have them doing!
So why not involve teddy in some practical games that help your child learn something? A simple example might be table manners – teddy can show the kids how to sit at the table, what to use to eat with and even how to pop a napkin in his shirt.
If there are a few teddies in the house, then maths games with them could be a fun idea. What do you get if you add two teddies and three teddies? Get your child to actually move them together and count them. Instant maths lesson without a maths book in sight!
Art Skills with Teddy Bears
While there’s a good chance the teddy isn’t much for drawing, colouring or painting himself, he’s a great subject for these things and an excellent way to practice those art skills.
Sitting together to draw the teddy is a fun activity to do with your child on a cold and rainy day. You can even grab some teddy themed colouring books or sheets and the three of you could sit around to colour, even if teddy doesn’t really get much done.
For older kids, you can even make teddy bear outfits with paper or even sewing a little something if you are skilled that way. Or grab some pom poms, googly eyes and glue and make a mini teddy modelled on the original.
Active Teddy Bear Games
Sometimes you can put the teddy bear to use as part of more active games. A teddy bear treasure hunt could be one idea – the ultimate prize is to find the teddy but there could be treats and games to play along the way.
A pillow fort complete with a teddy mascot is a fun thing to make while if the weather is nice, the old teddy bear picnic is never to be discounted. Even doing activities like playing on the trampoline can be done with the bear to encourage children outside.
Quiet Time with Teddy Bears
One of the bear’s most important roles is to help them to settle down for the night and go to sleep. Reading a book with you, your kid and teddy is a great idea, bonus points if the story is about teddy bears too. You can tuck in the bear and there’s a good chance that the child will want to have the same treatment.
There’s no end to the amazing ways your child can play with their teddy. With a little encouragement and help to find new ways, they’ll remain a huge teddy fan for years to come.
